Have you tried diet after diet and are disappointed with not getting the lasting results you want? The reason these diets typically fail is because they only deal with what to eat and how much to eat, maybe even when to eat. But this action of eating is only the tip of the iceberg. The majority of an iceberg is under the surface, where we can’t see it! It’s our thoughts, our emotions, and even situations and environmental influences. Growing up, we are taught to associate food with so much more than just simple nourishment for our body. So of course, in order to change how we eat, we need to change how we think about food too.
Imagine that it is 9pm at night. You’ve already had dinner, the kids are finally in bed, and you are settling in to watch an episode of your favorite TV show. You find yourself with your hand in a bag of chips. Why is this? You are not hungry because you had a rather large portion of dinner. The chips aren’t providing your body with essential nutrients it needs. There could be hundreds of reasons why and these reasons could be different for everyone! Perhaps you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, worried, or even happy. Maybe the thoughts you are having are “I deserve a treat” or “finally, some time to myself!” or even “I hope my kids don’t come down with that cold going around”.
The Craving Change ™ program was created by clinical psychologist Dr. Colleen Cannon and registered dietitian Wendy Shah. It is split up into four sessions. The first two sessions are designed to help you explore what is under the surface of your eating choices: what thoughts, emotions, and situations drive you to reach for another cupcake. The final two sessions provide you with strategies and techniques to help you change these choices into healthier habits, giving you the power to choose and finally see the results that you want!
This program is currently being offered at Precision Movement and Therapies as one-on-one sessions with our registered dietitian Dana Weber. It can also be arranged as a small group if you want to embark on this journey with a friend or two.
One-on-one sessions are $410.00 for the entire program including the workbook. This cost will be split between each appointment ($110 for the first, and $100 for each consecutive). These sessions are covered if you have dietitian coverage with your private insurance. We direct bill to Great West Life and Blue Cross.
Small group prices are yet to be determined and may vary depending on number of participants.

Changing our lifestyle and the way we eat is not easy. A registered dietitian understands this and that is why they provide you with more than just information. They offer guidance, support, and motivation to help you make and maintain lifestyle changes. They will help you create a realistic eating plan that suits your needs and provide you with the accountability you need to keep those changes going. Making changes can be overwhelming. A dietitian focuses on helping you create small attainable goals so that you can build new habits.
If you have a chronic disease, a dietitian can help you understand your condition and provide you with education about the nutrients that affect it. They will work with you to create an eating plan that can help you manage your condition.
If you are wanting to lose weight, a dietitian can help you develop a safe and effective weight loss plan that you can stick with for the long haul. Because for weight loss to last, the plan you follow needs to last too.
What to expect when meeting with a Dietitian:
At your first appointment expect to do a lot of talking while the dietitian does a lot of listening. In order to best help you, the dietitian needs to learn your health history, eating and activity habits, as well as your food likes and dislikes. The dietitian will then provide you with some information and suggestions for changes to help you achieve your goals.
Follow-up appointments help you keep the change going. They are when you and the dietitian can really dig into creating an eating plan that helps you achieve your goals. They will provide you with more knowledge about nutrition and your health. Change is a process, follow-up appointments will help guide you through it and answer any questions or concerns you have along the way. Challenges are a natural part of change. The dietitian will help find solutions and tweak your plan to make it work for you.
Initial Assessment: 75 minutes, $125.00
Follow-up: 60 minutes, $100.00
